The goblin shark, Mitsukurina owstoni, is an extremely rare, deep-sea shark. Also known as a "living fossil", it is the only living species from the family Mitsukurinidae. The goblin shark is characterized by its pinkish skin tone, and distinctive, elongated, flattened snout which features highly protrusible jaws containing extremely fine, nail-like teeth.
